Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27, 2010 Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a small community that lies on the part of Montreal called"the West Island. Many people who don't know this name believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact the West Island includes everything westward of Montreal, including the town of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to originate from the West Island. But this isn't the case. Brugel grew up in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however due to her rapid development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing colleagues. She admitted in an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. When I grew out of my males in my group, I decided to quit. Many former dancers turn to acting. In the case of Brugel, it was the nudge of one of her drama teachers at the high school that pushed her towards the right path. She was encouraged to try out for roles in the school's production. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the character of Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in the year 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's career has seen her appear in over 60 shows and films. The most well-known role was as Rita (shown below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian of the season 1 Cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
